SOUP DRAGON
After a long 10-hour flight and waiting for what seemed forever in the Customs line, we (me, my sister Roch, and my sister-in-law Steph) met up with my brother Rex who was already in Ireland. We took the Airlink Express Dublin Bus (€12 round trip) from the airport to our hotel and freshened up before checking off the first thing on our list: Soup Dragon. We walked a couple of blocks from our hotel for some comforting and delicious soup at the Soup Dragon. I had their “Fiver”, which was the Massaman Chicken soup (€5….hence the name “Fiver”). My sister had the chickpea, tomato and lentil soup, which I had a taste of and would definitely recommend trying. It seemed to have more flavor compared to the chicken soup that I had. All of the soups came with Irish brown bread and a piece of fruit.
GUINNESS
Next up: Guinness! We took a tour and enjoyed a pint at the Guinness Storehouse. Seven floors of Guinness goodness, including a tasting experience and learning how to pour. I must say, I am officially certified by the Guinness Academy to pour you a perfect pint of Guinness. A complimentary pint is included with admission, and was best enjoyed on the 7th floor Gravity Bar with 360 panoramic views overlooking the city.
Fun Fact: What is the color of Guinness?
Answer: Ruby red! Guinness may appear black in color, but look at it under a light and it indeed is ruby red.
LEO BURDOCK FAMOUS FISH & CHIPS
We had to try the fish and chips when in Ireland. At Leo Burdock, we tried the Traditional Fresh Cod aka the ‘Dubliners caviar’. Fish was fresh and the chips were a tasty and filling treat after having a pint of Guinness. Portions were big, so one order was big enough to share.
THE PALACE BAR
Went to the Palace Bar for a nice nightcap with some good ‘ol hot Irish whiskey. The Palace was a small a cozy bar with a friendly atmosphere where people came to meet up with friends for a chat and a pint.
